  • A Year Later

Wow, so much has changed. Every good intention of keeping this site, as well as my wiki went right out of the window. In fact I think this blog hasn’t even been functional most of the last year.

  • Nine Months Later

Nine months have passed since my last update. Where am I at now? I guess everything is working as expected. I’ve taken a break from much of this tech project as I feel like I’ve accomplished most of what I wanted. There are still hiccups, and most of my WordPress sites are slow. My next issues are power related: first streamlining my power usage, and then streamlining my power-down procedure in the event of an outage.

  • Cloudflared

Well, since my last post, basically nothing has worked correctly. The transfer to Cloudflare was easy at first, but getting it to interface correctly with Caddy proved too much for me.

  • Cloudflare

So far my experience with Cloudflare has been mixed. Initially, I was really impressed at how easy it was to transfer my sites from Google. Setting up my email was also pretty straightforward. However, I have had a hell of a time getting my sites online.

  • Google Stikes Again

Google Domains has been sold to Square Space, and has thus once again killed off a product that I used on a daily basis. The first Google product I can remember being killed off while still popular was Google Reader. At the time it seemed odd that they killed off something that tons of people used. It was free, but many of Google’s offerings were free and still are. The press at the time was equally flummoxed, as they are now after the demise of Domains.

  • A New Endeavor

This server project has reached a plateau. I feel like I’ve achieved all of my basic cloud needs, so I think as far as that goes, my stalwart focus will be on keeping the system up to date and secure. That means I’m ready for some new goals.

  • Phase Complete

This project started more than two years ago, and I have reached a milestone of sorts. I’m not sure what the original goal was, but it started with creating a Jellyfin instance that was accessible to the internet. It has, of course, become much more than that, and the ultimate goal shifted dramatically; the new and current goal is to replace Google (and more). Here’s a mostly comprehensive list of what I’m running.

  • Retooling

Okay so here’s the deal. About a year ago I bought two 2TB SSDs for a video project. I’m not sure exactly why, but they died in short order. It turns out I didn’t really need them for the project anyhow, and after a few months I just figured that I threw away almost $400.

  • Just Testing…

Well this is the second ‘just testing’ post, it should be telling that you can’t see the first. I am just getting WordPress up and running on a brand new server, now just testing to make sure the app works.

  • A New Incarnation

Much is the same, much is about to change. My server situation is changing, so I’ll update fully when that happens. For now, it’s enough to know this system works!
